Sensei
George A. Fusco, Jr.

George Fusco, JrSensei George Fusco, Jr. established the Assembly of the Fighting Arts Karate school, January 3, 1988, this was the only martial arts school in the North Branford/Northford area at that time. Sensei was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in 1996 for "Outstanding Achievement of the Year". In 2003 he was inducted into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame for, "Outstanding Contribution in the Martial Arts" & he was inducted into the WWMA Hall of Fame for, "Master Instructor of the Year" along with AFA Karate receiving the award for School of the year in 2003. These awards are truly well deserved, cherished validations for his many selfless acts.

Sensei Fusco is an accomplished and well-respected martial arts instructor who has dedicated 23 years of his life to the martial arts. He presently holds the rank of 4th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate & is awaiting his teaching certification in Chin Na where he has been training since 1997.

A.F.A. Karate, is one of the most reputable and respectable schools in the state of Connecticut. Sensei Fusco has a holistic approach/attitude toward Martial Arts, students and the respect in which all should be treated. He is a man of great patience and skill. Mr. Fusco has trained with Black Belts in various styles of Martial Arts and has incorporated into his curriculum, the knowledge he obtained. Students instructed by Sensei Fusco feel in harmony with his teaching methods, and not threatened by his skill and/or attitude. His credentials and accomplishments are impressive. Sensei Fusco was an instructor for the Municipal Police Training Council, where he taught defensive tactics, mechanics of arrest, crowd control, etc.

Sensei Fusco appeared in Karate International’s, "Who’s Who in the Martial Arts", February 1992. In October 1993, Sensei Fusco, along with his wife, (Roseann), established themselves as successful tournament promoters, with their 1st annual Southern New England Karate Championships. Sensei Fusco designed a program called C.A.R.E., which stands for Control, Attitude, Respect, and Esteem. This program teaches good etiquette, responsibility and boosts a person’s morale.

Sensei Fusco is dedicated to keeping kids off the street and giving them something constructive to do with their time, he believes that by instilling these principles in all youth, it will produce positive and respectable individuals. He also focuses on the importance of discipline, self-respect, respect for others, the value and importance of an education, good grades and a great attitude. He also leads talk sessions in which crime, drugs, safety tips and health fitness are discussed. If our youths could have more role models like Sensei George Fusco of A.F.A. Karate, we would then have more leaders and less followers. Without question, the leaders of tomorrow are being well guided by Sensei George Fusco, Jr. of the Assembly of the Fighting Arts.
